The Lync 2013 for iPad client cannot place or receive audio or video calls when the client is hosted on iPad 2 devices that are running iOS 7.1

Microsoft just released a Knowledge base article regarding The Lync 2013 iPad client running on iOS 7.1 which seems to break the Audio and Video functionality.

The Microsoft Lync 2013 for iPad client will display the following error message when you place or receive an audio or video call:

The call wasn’t completed or has ended

This issue may occur if the following conditions are true:

  • The Microsoft Lync 2013 for iPad client is hosted on an iPad 2 device that is running iOS 7.1.
  • The Microsoft Lync 2013 for iPad client is at version 5.3.

Microsoft is aware of this design issue and will address this problem in future builds of the Lync 2013 for iPad client.

Note This issue will not occur if the Lync 2013 for iPad client is hosted on an iPad Air or iPad Mini device that is running iOS 7.1.
