Due to damn licensing issues, I have the SfB2016 BASIC client installed on my PC (FYI: there is a new updated March 2016 edition available on MS download) and this security update says: “The expected product version cannot be found on the system”

Is there a separate binary for “Lync2016entry” branch, or thats an issue that has been there since half a year now (I couldnt manage to install any CU / security update after the November 2015 patch tuesday on my RTM-SfB2016basic client, had the same error messages for all patch-tuesday update since December)? Cannot find any hint on goggle, nobody seems suffering from this 🙁 Very frustrating.. I supposed to be a lync guy, and cannot keep my very own workstation up-to-date.

What is your current client version? and is it from C2R or Volume License?

Its the free download from MSFT (the Basic client is unlicensed / free):
      https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49440

IN the about window, it says version is: 16.0.4288.1000

There is a possibility that it has different binaries and not all updates are relevant, but that’s a really good question you are asking. Interesting.
I was trying to look for any updates relevant just for that but couldn’t come up with any.

yes, I mean the basic client has nearly all the flaws as the normal full-featured client, but there seems some difference in the patching of it. Until last November I used the same patches as the normal client, and they applied successfully, but since December, that’s not the case anymore.

We are using Office 2013 proplus click to run and see a lot of Lync client crashes after this April update. Are more orgs being impacted by this event?
